Our Board Members & Committees

2023-2024 Board Members

We are fortunate to have an engaged group of volunteers who serve on our PTSA Board. Board Members are elected to serve a two-year term. If you are curious about learning more about a position, please feel free to reach out to a board member and they would be happy to tell you more about what to expect. Board members ensure our PTSA functions in accordance with national PTA standards and partner with our committees to create a positive experience for our students and families of Geiger.

2023-2024 Committees & Chairs 

• Membership Committee: Our membership committee looks for opportunities to grow participation from Geiger families in the PTSA and through school events. We want to make sure we're meeting the needs of Geiger families and helping them stay in the loop of what's going on at the school. Through increasing the engagement of our Geiger families, the PTSA is better able to serve our students and represent the voices and values of our families. • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coalition: Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Coalition is essential in creating safe spaces for our students and families at Geiger. This coalition is inclusive and reflective of our community and would love to hear from our families about what would help create a sense of belonging and inclusion. If you're interested in learning more about DEI at Geiger, please contact dei@geigerptsa.org. The DEI Coalition meets monthly. 

• Staff Appreciation Committee: Throughout the year, our PTSA looks for opportunities to express our gratitude to our wonderful teachers and staff. If you have ideas, please reach out to our staff appreciation chairs - they would love to hear from you! Contact staffappreication@geigerptsa.org. 

• Fundraising Committee: We are thankful for our families and community members that help contribute to our PTSA so we can support Geiger students and staff throughout the year. Our Fundraising Committee plans events throughout the year to raise funds that are directly invested back into the school. Previous events have included bake sales, auctions, festivals, the fun run event & much more; however, we would love YOUR ideas! • SCDM / Site-Centered Decision Making Committee: Tacoma Public Schools is committed to having a parent representative as part of their Site-Centered Decision Making (SCDM) body at every school. Our PTSA SCDM Chair services on the Geiger SCDM and helps relay priorities of our parents and Geiger families. If you are interested in learning more, please contact scdm@geigerptsa.org.
